Do you need to purchase specific headphones for the 810? I have trouble getting my headphone to go 'all the way' into the jack in the device. They're just normal, computer types, but I can't get them in all the way without manually holding them in to give that extra, farther push. Just bought a new set (the old ones had other issues), but these have the same issues. Advice?

n810 has a connector for microphone (Look at standart headphones and you will find a mic on it), but you can use any headphones you like, all way will works good.

sound will work fine through regular headphones with a 3.5mm plug, but the microphone (located next to the memory card slot) will be turrned off, so no phone calls.

okay. I'm really sorry for wasting the forum's collective time.

So it would appear that simply not treating the thing like a Swavorski egg and just giving the standard headphones a good bump into the jack remedies the issue.

Again, sorry guys. .__.
