Finally, after weeks of trial-and-error method, I found an ALMOST perfect solution to hear the music I (or everyone else in my home network) want ... where I want.
In my network there are several computers and laptops. The media-server is connected to the surround-system in living-room, one of my laptops' connected to a sound system in house bar, and there are a few more PCs allocated in the house ;-)
Now there's no problem to setup a network share on the media server where every computer can access the files. But with some different users in the network there's no chance of collecting all new incoming music files on the shared network drive - forget it . However the files are treasuring up on each machine
So I could set up network shares on each PC hence everybody has access to ALL the music in our LAN. But where's the comfort?
Especially when I'm laying lazy on the couch in the house bar? I want to stream music from one machine to another. That's what a UPnP Control Point is made for. I grab my netbook (remember: I - lazy on the couch ^^) and stream music from my girlfriend's PC to the laptop in the house bar. Well THAT'S COOL!
Now there are several ways to get that. One simple method is installing Windows Vista with WMP 11 (that won't work with XP and WMP 11) or Windows 7 which included WMP 12 on ALL machines and enable the UPnP/AV features in the Windows Media Player. Yeah, right - that would be freakin' expensive ... at least for me/us. No Vista or 7 in the house. Another way would be to buy a hardware streaming solution like Philips Streamium or Logitech Squeezbox products.
But since I'm churlish, I was looking for a free solution. The answer is: Foobar2000 with foo_UPnP plugin. It was very quick installed on Windows and Linux with Wine. Now every computer has its own UPnP server and renderer running thanks to this cool plugin. And it's also an UPnP Control Point - YEAH!
But what about that comfort thing? Because now I want to lay lazy on the couch using my N900 to control the music in the house
I found a nice program on the web - called KinskyClassic. It's an UPnP Control Point software ... open source, already optimized for 'our' 800*480px resolution & touchscreens, it works great with Foobar2k+UPnP plugin and it runs on Windows and Linux - unfortunately there's only x86 code available

If it's not too much work, this code being ported to Meamo 5 (I don't know about the effort), could PLEASE anybody on this forum take care of this? I'd appreciate that so much.

With only X86 code I don't think you could port it to Maemo 5. Porting usually means there's an ARM base to begin with, it would be more of a re-write, or re-creating the program from scratch.

But good luck with your request.

But maybe I'm lucky and there's a developer who's also interested in the abilities of such an UPnP Control Point. Won't give up hope

If it's not written (partially) in assembler, then the CPU architecture doesn't matter for porting. So if the source code is available and not in a language unsupported by Maemo, it should be doable.
