hi. just got my phone from USA. i live in sydney. i was trying to add australian english in the language and region setting in my new n900, but there is not Australia in the region setting. Is that because Nokia not selling the device in Australia that why they never put Australia as a region in the setting?

Also, i downloaded the update from nokia throught my wifi connection. it still wont change the region setting so please advise. thank you

My n900 arrives in 2 more days so I can't help you but I suggest you look at this thread. http://forums.internettablettalk.com...ight=australia

It states that our region isn't available however in settings you can manually change the timezone.

The above info is outdated.
As of the recent small update to PR1.1.1, the N900 has Australia as a region. This means that new contacts will have the correct country, but not much more.
There is no Strine language pack, so you'll have to make do with UK English. (Fair suck of the saveloy, Nokia!)

mktsoi, have you installed 1.1.1? ie 2010.02-8

edit: dang, beaten again

Yea I know that, I used New Zealand region. But who would want to use Aussie English anyway? Aussie English is the same as USA english. Just different slang lol.

I rather use UK english.

When are you australians going to realise, that apart for insisting on pronouncing your country's name with ARS at the beginning, you basically speak the queens english!

It's UK english language you are after!
