Dear Friends can any one tell me why .MKV files format doesnt play on my n900??

Dear Friend, did you install the Extra Decoders Support package and read the troubleshooting page (Playback section)?

as far as I know mkv extension are like blueray rips, as close to original format as posible meaning that you actually cant even run on a avg netbook/laptop and if they do I dont promise full speed either or a lot of shuttering

I might be wrong but I dont think the n900 could handle those formats without flipping the stylus at you first

I might be mistaken tho

I'm afraid you are. MKV is just a container format, the same as AVI and MP4, the actual codec and quality etc of the video inside the container have nothing to do with the container itself.
Despite this, the media player in the N900 doesn't like MKV files.

I stand corrected then

the only mkv files i have ran have been very high Q movies, nothing less than 720p, maybe because I only look up torrents of HD

Im sorry If i was missleading then

I thought .mkv files will play on the n900 but the resolution has to be quite low
