I just got my 770 and was attempting to use the Windows update utility to flash it to 2007HE. Got the device into USB mode, started flash and then, within a couple of seconds, it said "update failed".

Now when it turns on, it just goes to a white screen that says "NOKIA" (NOT the WSOD from what I've read) and won't go any farther. Also, it will not turn off unless I remove the battery. When I try to put it back into USB mode, I get a message on the pc that says "device not recognized"

What did I do wrong? How can I fix this? Please tell me I didn't brick my new toy in the first 5 minutes I had it!!!!

HELP!!

Relax dude, N900s are pretty much unbrickable.

This should help you:

That's great for N900 owners......however, mine is a N770.

I will try reflashing in Linux and see if the device is recognized. I should have known better than to trust a Windoze flashing app to update a Linux device.

Got it!!! Used the maemo Flasher 3.5 and finally managed to get it flashed. I don't think I breathed the whole time!

Thanks!
