I posted that same link in the 'Here's the Nokia N8-00' thread and so far everyone prefers to speculate instead of read

What are the TMO thoughts on why this device isn't running Maemo or Meego?

Maemo's dying and Meego's not ready is my guess

I think that Nokia are keeping with their Symbian OS for now on some of their phones. It still is pretty much a successful and reliable OS.

Once Meego/Maemo has matured then maybe it will replace the symbian OS. Nokia still needs to sell mobiles and at least with Symbian there are no real issues as opposed to Maemo/Meego.

Well for one thing, it looks like it needs portrait mode.

Seriously, does this need to be discussed again? Nokia's made it perfectly clear that Symbian is approaching mobile computing from the phone side and Maemo from the computer side.

That is why the N97 is so awful. It was an attempt to make a portable computer with phone software. I love the N900, but am really excited to see what Nokia will be bringing out in a year once Meego is ripe. Then I will give my son the N900 and buy me the next toy. My son is by btw enjoying my old N95 8G... still a GREAT phone.

They thought that the Nokia N8 was downgraded by a employee of Nokia, because it they were so dissapointed by the features it contained.....
