So my music and videos won't show up in the media player, and my pictures won't show up in the library. Yet everything is fully accessible from the file manager. I have no idea why. I have tried rebooting several times but that doesn't seem to work.

The only thing I can figure, is that I downloaded a new theme from the Repo, and maybe that might be the cause. Because I tried to uninstall it, and it refuses to leave. Any ideas? Thanks in advance

There' s a lot of information on this in this forum, but basically the Media Player is a weak part of the N900. I would try to install and use Mussorsky (extras devel or testing?) to enter the mediafiles and tags and look for irregular filenames. And I would install Mediabox to see what happens. On this forum you can find ways to kill the media informationlist used by the mediaplayer. Than it generates a new file. Never tried that. Search under applications.
EDIT And in the browser, MicroB delete history (keep cookies etc). This in some strange way makes the system more healthy.
You do have the latest firmware 1.1? I only had problems before.

Try opening an x terminal and running this command

tracker-processes -r

Problem is sometimes caused when the device is connected to PC in Mass media mode. Try avoiding this.

Actually, Mass storage mode has nothing to do with it, not safely removing the drive is what causes it.

You should check how much space you have in rootfs (256MB partition), and in home partition (2GB partition). Having a little space in both these could cause serious problems.

Media player is more associated withthe home partition. The tracker process won't start unless there is approx >50MB free. This is a good place to start to solve this issue. Install conky and see how much space you have. If you have less than 50MB uninstall a big app / game. You should have more space now.

In xterm write: tracker-processes -r
or install trackercfg.

i have a problem with my music not showing in the media player when it is stored on my memory card but if i copy it to the phone memory it picks it up straight away.
however i have only noticed this since i updated to the leaked pr1.2
although i'm not 100% it could be an app i've installed
i've tried the command above and rebooting still nothing also i can play them using file manager as mentioned above ok.

Try installing tracker-cfg and editing the paths it searches media in.
