I am helpless! I will get my N800 soon, i hope so and now I am looking for a BT keyboard. Because I want to type emails and small Word docs...

Now i've got a problem.. is this Keyboard okay? Will it run with the N800?

That's my problem. I don't know if it has HID-Compliment. But you need to download a driver, so I think not. But there is a lot of supportet pda's/smartphones. Also some nokias:

i just tryied to use a keyboard that look exactly
the same but from another "manufacturer".

mine was not HID compliant, so have to use some tricks
from fanoush with my old 770 to get to work.
it was a little bit difficult for me to get it connected
to my device. after that, the keyboard map was not complete.
i used it a lot but i was not very happy.

when i ordered my n800, i ordered it with the nokia keyboard.
this one was very easy to use, easy to connect, full mapping (but some
custom keys). i use it a lot more than the previous one
because of the easy way to connect it...
i'm not a coder, but a user and i like simplicity for a lot of thing
even if i pass a lot of time to customise....
if you're so, i recommand that you get a keyboard that is
really HID compliant. it is sure that the nokia one is !

Every bit of the description makes me think it only supports serial -- not hid. Serial bt keyboards have been made to work [search for using the IPAQ keyboard with the 770], but it isn't easy.

This looks exactly like the freedomkeyboard.com-keyboard I bought on a whim on saturday, while visiting some stores to see if they should happen to have a Nokia SU-8w on stock.

It's indeed a keyboard with bluetooth SPP profile. I bought a norwegian one, and the kbdd daemon from http://fanoush.wz.cz/maemo/ has french mappings. Other than that, it seemed to work technically. But, since I wanted norwegian keys, I downloaded the source from http://www.handhelds.org/moin/moin.cgi/kbdd/, thinking I'd at least see how much work it is to modify.

Status: Definitely doable, I'm nearly finished with a norwegian version. You'll benefit from a scratchbox installation before trying, however I guess a straight arm compile should work too.

Now, for the quality of the keyboard: There is definitely a "lag" between pressing keys on the keyboard until they turn up for example in an x-term. Can someone with a Nokia keyboard either confirm or not that that is the case with the Nokia keyboard too? I might take it back and order a Nokia keyboard too if the quality of the keyboard in itself and the communication with the device is better and faster.

okay then i have to save some money and buy the Stowaway Sierra. I hope this one is good?!

I have the stowaway xtbtue, and there is a delay -- but it is very slight. The sierra is nice in that it has a row of real number/symbol keys instead of the xtbtue's impossible to read in the dark four way keys. But the sierra is bigger than the xtbtue [both open and closed], and the center hinge of the sierra doesn't lock, making it hard to use anywhere but on a solid surface. From a best of all worlds point of view, I almost wish they made the hp keyboard in an hid version [though the hinge lock on the hp is pretty easy to break].

How easy?? Because, in germany, the HP keyboard is much more cheaper than the Stowaway. And if it is so good .... .
Which other Keyboard can be recommend?
