My external memory card has turned read-only all of a sudden. I don't think I played around with any settings to make it happen. I can read from it (duh), but can't write to it, or delete from it. All settings have the read-only box unchecked etc. I searched the forums, but couldn't find anything, so sorry if this problem has been brought up before.

Thanks

Have you tested the card in a desktop or notebook with USB card reader? This could help determine whether the problem is with the card itself or the Nokia device.

I would also check the write protect switch, although it's been stated here that it's a no-op with these units. (Making a mental note to try that myself next time my N800 is idle.)

Yes, both writing and deleting works from the computer, however, on the N800 everything is, once again, a "read only folder" on the Memory Card, even the root of it.

Unless somebody else has a better idea, sounds like reflash time...

For the record; I reflashed, and it now works fine. Seems to have a been some kind of software error.

Had the same issue. n800 saw external 2Gig card as read-only. Using USB worked and card worked as normal outside of n800, so nothing seemed to be wrong with the card. Eventually gave up and reformatted it using the n800.

I'll do that if there is a next time. Copying the data on the card over to a computer, formatting, and copying the data back is probably better than reflashing and having to reinstall stuff.
