My n900's LCD was damaged the other day. I have found numerous forum posts regarding the replacement including with the service manuals. Called NOKIA support and they send me to http://onsitecellularrepair.com for LCD replacement. I just wanted to find out a price. Anyhow, I am willing to replace this LCD myself but need to find out what is really damaged: LCD Display screen or touch screen? When I swipe on my n900 screen, I can see desktop icon moving in the right side of cracked screen. Should I take it apart in effort to find out what is really needs to be replaced?

Also where would be a good place to get replacement part for my screen in USA? So far I found http://www.mobile-phone-lcd.com to be reliable source for those parts.

Here are the pics of my damaged screen:

Plug it into a TV and test the touchscreen. Im fairly certain its just the lcd panel that needs replacing. I replaced mine easily enough. Do a youtube search for tehkseven n900. He has a complete teardown video for N900. Getting to the LCD is actually really easy, you will only need the first half of the video.

I bought a new lcd panel on ebay for $AU 80.

work in a dust free environment if possible, and careful to not put fingerprints anywhere.

Plugged in to the TV and ran couple touchscreen tests without any issues. That was a good suggestion. I am off now to purchase LCD replacement screen.

Just wanted to add that I have successfully replaced the LCD screen. Used steps from Nokia RX-51 Service Manual Level 1&2 to reinstall this display. Also found a helpful thread with the highlighted steps on how to remove it. It's # 16 in http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=53532&page=2

AFter the screen was replaced:
