Hello!

I'm not quite sure if this is the right place and if this request is posted before. I read the FAQ and used the search function, so please be gentle...

Anybody here who has interest and time to do a Giana's Return or Sqrxz port? Both are famous free jump and run remakes.

Look here:

http://www.gianas-return.de/

and

http://www.sqrxz.de/

AFAIK you can't download the source code directly but it's a free project already available for many platforms.
If you're interested I think the best way is to drop the project leader Kojote an E-mail (look at the webpage)

Thanks for your interest!

Regards,
Stephan

I'm pretty sure Gianas Return would be fairly simple to port, considering it is SDL.
Same thing with SQRXZ.

I believe smoku is a massive fan of the Giana Sisters :P So maybe he'll look into it. You will probably need to talk to the devs though as I can't find a sourcecode?

Definately +1 for this one. Such a blast from the past Giana Sisters was my favorite C64 game like 20 years ago. Time flies...

Yeah, I wrote it already in my first post: It's a free project but you have to contact Kojote, the project leader...

Giana's Return would be a lot of fun on the N900!

I agree also, +1.

One thing though, I've noticed that some ports are done pretty sloppy when it comes to adopting the games control on a touchscreen (instead of keyboard/joystick/mouse control). In a couple of games I've seen one doesn't even understand how to start them or even do the most basic stuff (like that penguin game, don't remember its name).

So I believe that is one of the most important things to take care of and to invest a little bit of thought when it comes to the game control on touchphones. I have the feeling that they do this a little better on the i*** (don't want to type the nasty i-word in here).

It would be really cool if we could make Giana run and jump with the stylus .

Playing platformers on N900 is plain PITA.
