Sprint is going to release the blackberry 8830 this coming month. I guess the 8830 is the CDMA version of the 8800. I can't seem to find any information on bluetooth tethering with this phone. Does anyone have any information? Does this blackberry support DUN and if so will it work with the n800?

You should check on www.blackberryforums.com.

For what it's worth i have a pearl it it's not possible to tether as there is no dun profile.

In any case the above-mentioned forum should provide you with some information.

I've picked up an 8830 and after some limited playing haven't been able to pair it with my 770. They find each other, but I get the "The device has no supported services" error message. I'm not sure if it's a problem with the 8830 (it lists numerous servies including DUN) or the 770.

Do you know if it's possible to use a *xxx dialing code in order to get DUN access to EVDO? I used to do this with my i710, but I didn't have the unlimited data plan so I wasn't connecting to EVDO.

correction, the pearl CAN provide DUN with the latest software. Visit blackberryforums.com to find the latest software updates (most recent is .94 from Rogers). I use my N800 through my Pearl on Cingular all the time. (Though the speed sucks, I need 3g!)

Interesting. I guess I'll have to wait for a similar update for the 8300 on Verizon.

Verizon is notorious for stripping stuff like DUN out of phones. But the 8830 is very recent so I don't see why the guys at blackberryforums wouldn't have found something.

Erm Update:

Looks like if you pair your 8830 with a Mac, or Windows PC via Bluetooth the DUN profile automagically appears and you'll be able to dial up from your N800 at that point (I hope).

I know for sure that my N800 has only been able to function with my pearl for the past month or so.
