My first post here although I've had my N900 for a few months now and have been a reader here for longer than that.

I've read the threads on how to connect a BT keyboard but I'm wondering if anyone can report any success specifically with the Freedom Universal BT Keyboard?

My reason for asking is that Orange UK seem to be off loading them rather cheaply at the moment

cheers,

Matt.

Well that was an overwhelming response (note to self: try and make first post more interesting in future)

Anyway, I'm happy to report that with the help of these excellent instructions

I've successfully connected my new bluetooth keyboard.

I'm really chuffed....an absolute bargain at £7

Works satisfactorily once I got it paired and the keymap set up as per instructions found here.
Now the kb pairs up as soon as I switch on, then in an xterm I login as root and set the keymap which takes all of 20seconds.
Very occasionally the Enter key stops working and I have to use Ctrl+Enter instead. Probably some confusion between the BT keyboard and latching keys on the N900 kb, but to be honest it's a fairly minor thing that I can't raise the enthusiasm to try and fix

edt: Just to add...I've also got my BT mouse working now which means my N900 is a full on laptop replacement......fantastic bit of kit this phone

There is nowadays easyway. Install extkbd. Pair devices (write code with keyboard press enter). Restart N900 (I dont know does everybody have to, but I had to). Go to Settings and External Keyboard choose your language. Thats it. After that everytime you use Freedom keyboard just switch it on.
