I've been having a problem with the screen on the n900 over the las few days.

Screen has been non responsive, requiring restart.
Problem re-occurs after a few minutes.

reinstalled pr1.2 using ovi suite. same issue.

flashed using maemo flasher (both rootfs and emmc).
problem re-occured.

i'm using titan's kernel 37, lv limits 250 1000.
only backed up contacts and messaging.. all apps were deleted and i only reinstalled

Before replacing anything. After reflashing your device and before installing any applications, did the screen still be unresponsive?

If this is the case, you may be looking at a hardware fault. I have all those apps installed and no problems. All apart from:

titan's kernel 37
wifi switcher
adblock plus
fmms
lens cover reminder
personal data plan monitor
plastic theme
wifi signal applet

You have many widgets on that list. They may be crashing hildon-home I guess..

Did you screen freeze up with whatever you were doing still running?

In my case, everything freezes up, including apps, then continues where it left off after being left alone for about 10 minutes..

thanks a bunch... will try flashing again without the above mentioned apps...

fyi.. all these apps have been in use for a few months without a single freeze up. That's what has me curious as to the cause of the problem.
Even more puzzling is how the phone has been behaving itself for the last 4 hours...

Peculiar is all..

You should reflash (firmware and eMMC to be safe) and do not install anything except maybe conky to monitor your device.

Use it for some hours or a day and see if it freezes at all. If it doesn't freeze, it's the apps fault. Then install applications little by little (one or two at a time) and test which is the culprit.

It could be widgets though. even though I have many widgets installed I only have 4 enabled: App search widget, media player widget, the sms widget and the rolling eyes. The widgets used to cause freezes on my phone too.

Off topic a little, but i noticed you don't oc.
Just wondering if you find the os response adequate?

On that note, was forced to go back to using 1 of my older phones (nokia 6120 2008 model), damn that's slow! Have to say, we are a spoiled bunch of N900 users...
Advice much appreciated. Will do reflash and try out the apps thingie over the weekend and report back on the errant app

but the touchscreen don't response.
already flashed it roofs and emmc and searching wich app is the problem but after flash with the stock apps etc the problem re-occurs

after reflashing nothing installed problem still there.
do you think i need a screen replacement?
