You may be able to tether without connectify.

on several pages in the internet i read that you can set up an ad-hoc network on your computer and then connect to it with the n900.
so i created an ad-hoc network, set up a name and password and i'm seeing it on the n900. but when i want to connect to it, it doesnt work. it tells me "authentification failed".
the wifi-overview shows the network as well, plus telling me "waiting for user"
how do i fix that? propably just a small setting thats messing me up here.
also, when i create an adhoc-network, the system automatically creates a copy of this network without password-protection. cant connect to that either, even thought he signal strength is perfect.
i'm using win 7.
