Hi all,

This is my first post here. i just started using n900 a few weeks ago. I have recently updated firmware to 20.2010.36-2 version.
Since that day Ovi Maps has changed: menus and some features. Additionally i can't hear vocal indications anymore and i can't make a search of place without an active internet connection .

I know that Ovi Maps should have free turn-by-turn support (offline) since genuary of this year. Is it correct?

Why can't i use n900 as normal satellite navigation device ?

Do i have to install some other application?

For now i downloaded maps of my country and put them in /home/user/MyDocs/cities/diskcache. Then i put vocal files in /home/user/MyDocs/cities/<my_language>

I tried to use Ovi Maps at the biginning (with old version of Ovi Maps) and i can listen my language indications with an active internet connection.

Thanks to all

Shame that the release of 1.3 didn't add turn by turn instructions.. or offline navigation (since its possible to download the maps and a connection shouldnt be needed).

Maybe Meego will have the new and improved NAVTEQ 3D maps..?

for the time being Sygic 9 is a very user friendly sat-nav program for driving with turn by turn audio instructions, and its easily available too.

try googling:

'SYGIC MAEMO for NOKIA N900 EUORPE-khaled777'

I think it has support for most of the Middle East, Europe, USA, Canada and South America.. I haven't seen any maps for Africa
