Man, i'm sorry i'm posting so many new threads, but I just bought my n770 off eBay and I need to know if something is wrong so I can return it before it's too late.

Just this morning, I unplugged my 770 from the charger, fully charged, and it immediately flashed a low battery warning followed by "recharge battery", then it shut off. This comes following a period of very bad battery performance. I was running OS 2007 HE before, and I couldn't even get 4 hours of standby time. I thought that it was just the experimental os, but I just reflashed with 2006, and the problems continue. Just yesterday, I unplugged it, again fully charged (supposedly), and it instantly went to 3 bars. It was at 2 bars in about half an hour (of usage) and was dead within 30 minutes thereafter. That's an hour of usage, nothing close to what I should be getting. Is there anything I might be doing to produce these problems? I got an amazing deal on the 770, and it's perfect otherwise, so I would hate to send it back.

My 770 have about 4 days in standby, 3h of video (medium light), and about 1h of wifi.
I had some problems with an OEM charger, but no with the nokia one.
In e-bay you can find a big deals in batteries for bout 3€.

I'm leaning more towards a bad battery, I haven't seen anyone complaining about the charging circuity failing on a 770 here. I'd pickup a new battery first and try that.

Ok. I don't know how long it will be until I can get a new battery.

Also, my charger makes a fairly audible buzzing sound. I know it's supposed to, but this sound seems a little off. It's a little more audible then I think it should be. It would make a lot of sense if it was the charger and not the battery, since I have had other problems with it too. For example, I plug in the 770 and it says "Charging" like normal, but then, about 2-3 seconds later, it will pop up a weird "Not Charging" message. Then, I usually either have to shut down the tablet and wait for it to charge without the OS loaded, or unplug the charger and wait a while.

Also, I just realized, my tablet never reaches full charge. Whenever I unplug it, it is when the icon is still displaying the charging animation, not the fully charged icon.

Sounds like a bad battery. It should charge to full in around 3 hours or less, with the original charger (which should provide some 800-900 mA at 5 volts). If you want to try another battery you should be able to find one in any Nokia shop, as it's a standard battery used in some Nokia phones too.

This commonly happens when the charging current and/or voltage isn't high enough. I'd suggest trying an alternative Nokia charger.

I've just plugged the charger into another power outlet. It was previously on one of those cheapo extension cords with the three non-grounded outlets on the end (like the ones you use for christmas lights) with two clock radios (i'm a very heavy sleeper ) Now, it's not making any real audible noise, so I think I just found the problem. I'll tell you if it worked or not at about 3:00pm, I need to go take a final exam now .

Ah yeah, I've seen this too, while using an old Nokia charger with the old-pin to new-pin converter. It turned out that the old-style charger (some? all?) wasn't providing full 5V. I guess that was ok for older phones. The N800 needs regulated 5V.

Okay, I just came home. The icon is still the animated "charging" one. Is the icon supposed to change to indicate it's done charging? I was just assuming that it did, I don't think i've ever seen it change, come to think of it.
