Hey everyone,

Just thought I'd share this with everyone in case someone else ends up going through it.

I dropped my n900 on the floor this afternoon, and it knocked the sim out of place long enough for it to disconnect from the network. No problem - just jiggle it around and reboot, right?

Well, after powering back up, it entered an endless reboot cycle on the white Nokia screen. 20-30 seconds per cycle.

I figured it might be tangentially related; perhaps a change I had made since last reboot (that I was just noticing now), but after restoring a backup from the night before, I had the same problem.

So, I restored the stock PR1.3. Same problem!

My heart sank, thinking my phone was mortally damaged, but just on a hunch I swapped my Mugen battery out for the standard one. This time, it fired up just fine!

So, what happened?

The Mugen battery contacts are not tight enough out of the factory!

I suspect there was noise on the sense line, causing the phone to shut down as soon as bme loaded.

So, if this happens to you (possible even with the stock battery, I suppose), it might be enough just to bend the battery connectors slightly tighter with a razor blade.

Of course, be careful not to short the contacts, or you may well have an explosive battery on your hands!

Interesting. Another reason to have a spare battery.
