Hi,

There are numerous threads here on the fragile microUSB port.

Has this been fixed by Nokia?. Specifically, if an N900 model was manufactured after a certain date is it reasonable to assume it won't suffer from this issue?. If so, what is this manufacturing date?.

Thanks,
Mike.

Well my orginal N900 i bought within few months of release which i now sold to my brother is fine and shows no sign of it coming out and he is rough as guts with the phone, my 2nd one i bought few months ago is fine also doesnt seem to be any issues, i think it was a bad batch of phones early on and i think i would have been fixed by now

No, it hasn't been fixed. Some folks are just either lucky that they have yet to run into the rather bad decision on how Nokia decided to affix the microUSB port onto the motherboard.

If it were merely a bad batch of phones, I'd wonder why some folks who are quite the Nokia loyalist (past or present) had multiple phones, months or almost a year later in some instances still require replacement?

It's a very bad design choice to just save a few dollars.

Thanks for replying.

Is there a way to fix this usb connector w/o dismantling the N900?.

"fixed" ??? LOL Considering that the N900 has been long abandoned by Nokia I don't think it will ever be "fixed".
