Hello-
I'm a Mac user.
I have a Palm Lifedrive that was recently rendered pretty useless by Mac OS updates (drive mode no longer works).
I am interested in replacing my Lifedrive with an N770 (because of cost).
I used my Lifedrive for:
-VNC to my Grandma's computer to 'fix' things
-check e-mail while on vacation
-play some games
-look at the internet (sort of)
-watch movies while travelling (via TCPMP)

Whenever I was out of WiFi coverage range, I could get my Motorola V3 to be a modem via blutooth (I don't have a data plan).

Can the 770 replace all of these tasks?
Are there any Mac users in the community to guide me?

Thanks,
Tim

I think the 770 will do what you want it to...it may take some work to find the programs and whatnot.

How did you use your phone as a modem without a data plan? I wonder if that would be do-able with the 770....hmmm....

Slakker is right, with the proper software the 770 and 800 are both capable of doing any of the above things. I'm also unsure of how you were using your phone for data without a data plan (unless you were getting billed per kb) but if your Lifedrive used bluetooth DUN to your phone and it worked fine, then the 770 or 800 will do the exact same thing and should also work fine.

re: phone pairing dial-up

I used Bluetooth on the LD to talk to the phone, the LD treated the phone as a modem and I dialed out to my ISP using my 10 hours/month DSL back-up thingy, was really simple to set-up.
Speed was atrocious though, like @14400kbps. Sometimes 9.6.
