Hey everyone,

I been having problems with my gps ever since I got my n900. I can't get a lock no matter what I try. Now I'm trying to clear my gps cache but I can't figure out how to run the clear-gps-cache script i found in the bug-thread. I have used sudo gainroot but after that I have no idea how to run the script

I'm a complete novice when it comes to these things, so any help you guys can give is very much appreciated.

Can you link to the page where you got the script you're trying to run? Would help people figure out where the issue is with you getting it to run. (That or you're just in an area where the lock is really hard to get for other reasons... *Shrug*)

Here is the link to the bug-thread where I found the script;

comment 35.

I can see more than 10 satellites at any given time but I'm unable to get more than a coarse lock. In OVI maps (along with other applications I've tried) my position is around 500-800m off, and it "jumps" around the map, between two different positions at least 500m apart.

Thanks for taking the time to reply

I have the same problem, but the gps clean did not solve my problem...

I hope this works for you (and if it does, please tell me how)

How do run the Script:

Using Terminal or FileBox copy the binary "clear-gps-cahe" to /usr/bin (root access is needed).

than in Terminal (as root):

chmod 755 /usr/bin/clear-gps-cache

Than

clear-gps-cache

I hope it helps... If you don't know how to use Terminal, tomorrow I can make you a step by step terminal

Best Regards

Thanks Dimbert!

I had to figure out how to copy the script file to /usr/bin, took a few minutes but i got it at last, hehe

Sadly it didn't do any good for me either. I get a coarse lock in under 10 seconds but after that nothing happens. I did a test earlier, where I stood on top of a bridge (clear blue sky too) for 10 minutes but still only got a coarse lock.

I can see 11 satellites but when i check the signal using location test they are all in red. Any ideas what I can try next?

I think someone should try a reflash and see if things improve or not. I'm to busy ATM to do one but I might try next week...

Reflash is a method the make the N900 becomes like "factory state".

Like format a computer
