Noob here,

My gmail is displayed in serif fonts (probably Times Roman) in my 770 browser. How can I change this to san-serif font for easy on the eyes?

I found the answer myself.

After you get root access, go to /usr/share/fonts and delete all Ntm*.ttf files. Then fc-cache -f and reboot. No more serif fonts in Opera. If you have any serif fonts, delete all.
