Hello everybody.

I have some questions about Kernel Power for N900 and I can't find answers.

First of all, WHICH is the latest or best version of Kernel Power? I want to use Bleeding Edge drivers, air-cracking, USB Host mode and couple of patches. All of those need power kernel and I can't decide which to install, 46, 47, 48 or even 49.

Second, which is the proper way to install power kernel and how booting matters.

and Third, are there any hardware related risks except when overclocking.

Thank you in advance!

P.S. Please, don't comment things like "if you don't know that, then you don't need it".

Try HERE

V48 is the current "stable" release.
V49 is considered unstable at the moment

Instructions for installation are on the first post of the above thread.
Make note of uninstallation instructions as well

Best to look HERE for discussion on USB hostmode (HEN) regarding compatibility for kernel power.

From memory bleeding edge wifi and aircrack for n900 also have pretty good threads here with lots of info.

"search" is your friend

Total flashing time 1.078 s
Leaving update mode
SIGTERM recieved

To verify that everything worked fine, I entered: uname -r as root, but it returned:

2.6.28.10power42

Shouldn't it be 48? or it's normal?

Thank you for the reply

Yes, of course.

I think the problem has something to do with repositories. I've only enabled extras, but then it says "Version v48 is in Extras-Devel repository".

I've installed with "apt-get install kernel-power-flasher"

Is that correct?

Thank you for the answer

v42 is latest in Extras, so you have to enable Extras-devel.

Open link below with your N900 and it will enable devel repository.

I use:

nitdroid-kernel-2.6.28-06_final1_armel - for Nidroid

and kernel-power_2.6.28-maemo46-wl1_armel - for Aircrack-ng
