I still can't get it to transfer files to my 8830 with bluetooth, it always says failed. I'm able to pair with the 8830, but no transfer of any kind. I hope someone has some good ideas

I just went and picked up an N800. I'm really hoping to get some BTDUN going with the 8830 since I really have no other options with verizon that will allow me to roam on gsm.

Could it possibly be a modem script issue? Does the N800 provide any facility to alter the script used for dialing, etc?

It could very well be. I was having problems getting my N800 to connect to TMobile through my 8700g until I set the AT command:

Try it out, it might just work for the 8800 series...

I was able to get BT DUN working using my 8830 (Bell Canada) and my N800. The N800 has the lastest firmware update and the 8830 is on version 4.2.2.123.

On the N800 side, I used the GPRS option, checked the "trusted device" option, dial-up number is #777, username is bell1X, and password is the 4 digit voicemail access code. Everything else was at the default settings.

I didn't have to do anything on the 8830 side - just made sure that the 2 devices were paired up.

I had a Blackberry 7250 before and was never able to make it work.

Also had no problems getting the BT DUN working between the 8830 and my Sony T250P laptop.

Hope that helps.

did you have to update your blackberry to .123 or did it come from bell like that? Mine is running .66 and I wonder I could update perhaps via the bell firmware. Something good to ask over at the blackberry forums i guess.

Thanks for your update! Encouragement!

I got the 8830 about a month ago and it came with the 123 firmware.

I had forgotten about (given up on) BT DUN with the Blackberry until I read your thread. Then, I gave it a try and was pleasantly surprised!

I just got BT DUN working with my Blackberry 8830 on Telus Mobility (CDMA). The N800 is running OS2008 2.2007.50-2 and the Blackberry v4.2.2.123.

There were 3 configuration points in the N800 control panel.

* In the Bluetooth applet setup the Blackberry as a trusted device (and did the same on the Blackberry for the N800).

* In Connectivity applet, created a new connection for the Blackberry, with a connection type of GPRS, cellular network of CDMA, and dial-up number of #777. All other options were default.

* The connection didn't become visible until I set the Phone applet to point to the Blackberry.

Yippee!!! Lots of moving parts to get this configured, but it seems to work just fine.

Not to get greedy, but has anyone successfully paired with the GPS in the Blackberry 8830?

I've had success pairing the 810 now with Verizon on both an XV6800 WM6 and the 8830 Blackberry. Also paired with Nokia N95 on TMO... the only issue has been with the 8830 on Verizon, I needed to have the tethering option added or it would fail with an authentication error.

So you could get it to work with the 8830?
I added the tethering option, it connects, then after about a minute or a couple pages on a website it drops the connection.
I have a 8830 on Verizon with the latest software / firmware, I am using a N810 with 2.2007.50-2
This is very frustrating, I want to be able to travel on short trips with my 8830 and N810 and be able to do my e-mail and web surfing.
If it wont work with my 8830 then the N810 is going back to my IT department....
Please if anyone knows what I am doing wrong, point me in the right direction....

I have also tried it under GPRS and data connection, same problem regardless....
