I know there's the CallBlocker by CepiPerez which does its job.

But an application that could block/filter SMS is still not yet available for our phones.

Is there any developer out there who really wants to develop this app for Meego/Harmattan?

I badly need this app and I hope someone can come up the same or similar as that of Melon Mobile's Advanced Blocker

I'd pay for this app.

Since I just paid $20 bucks extra last month due to some random person texting me long chain letters better suited for Facebook, I too am suddenly in the market for an SMS only blacklist option.

@cddiede
Do you pay to receive SMS/telcons ? Like in Russia/Estonia ?
Or do you mean the data ? Is there no 'unlimited' data plan for you ?

@eerde: In the USA, you are charged the same amount to receive SMS or MMS messages as you are to send them.

The only way to avoid this is to pay some $20 fee to get "unlimited texts", which I think is a rip off.

I'm not an expert on the subject, but seems like you cannot avoid the charges of incoming SMS with this type of applications. It just hides them in order to not disturb you.

The message needs to be received first in order to be checked against filters, either on the number or the content.

For the phonecalls it is easier because you are charged after the connection is established.

Yep. Incoming sms are nukes. You can hide them, but can't stop receiving. It's your telco that has a f°$#ed up brain charging for incoming(not requested and predictable [read exploitable]) data.

I have no idea why you guys over the big pond accept getting ripped off like that...
I guess it started out as a nice idea: calling mobiles is not more expensive than calling fixed lines, yay!

Edit:
this also means that only for those "few" in your case an SMS blocker could be interesting - but anyway, you should talk to your provider, they should allow you to filter what you receive, or not charge you for it.

They don't allow that in the US unless there is a court injunction...

agree with @Saturn.
It's hard to reject a SMS without provider's supporting.

BTW, maybe neither does Melon Mobile's Advanced Blocker...i don't konw...
