This is a follow-up of the Ubuntu 12.04 on N900 with U-Boot. Check it for instructions, I don't want to have them in two places. But I'd like to have a separate thread for the new version. I hope moderators don't mind

STATUS: Booted.
REVISION: modified the script while trying, started with 142 but applied manually everything from 144.

COMMENTS:
Had to purge blueman while trying to install lubuntu-desktop.

OOTB works:
  • youtube.com/html5 - video + sound (slow, obviously);
  • battery status;
  • WiFi with network-manager.
Doesn't work:
  • Connman. How should I make e17 see it?
  • Unattended-upgrades crashing on every shutdown.

Nice one, I am eager to try E17 on the N900, but will wait for 12.10 to become released.

E17 (at least the touchscreen mode) has some very nice ideas but I don't like it yet. It has major drawbacks. Will try to write about them later. The main one is that it cannot see the connman. And it wastes much more of the screen space.

Are there any metapackage with dependencies list smaller than ubuntu-desktop?

I'm trying to boot with pali's u-boot and run sdboot reads 64 bytes of uImage and quits with bad uImage or something, while the .item file throws a bad partition error. I tried both {EXT-PART}1 and 3.

Unrelated question: Is there a way to add unknown.obvious's kernel without doing everything from scratch?

Which kernel do you use now? There is a "switch kernel" script but I didn't update it yet.

The nemo one, automatically from the script. Updated previous post with the script status report.

Try: "update-initramfs -c -k 2.6.37-n900" instead "update-initramfs -u"

Yeah, thanks, I've found it but got fed up with the update-initramfs. It works fine without it and I don't want to hardcode the kernel version. Well, we could get it from /boot/* items. But it just made me angry.
But I'll add it if someone will make a patch
