Tox is nodes-based network, you should live with it's network usage and battery consumption caused by it.

Price of being online
Been testing it, by having it running for a while. I cant confirm that it does serious battery drain. My device still lasts well above a full day.
My battery drainage is usually caused by compiling stuff on-device :P

excuse me for my ignorance, but what does CLI Tox do?
Wiki talks about finding, addin users etc, setting nick..
the point being communication: chat, voice, voice + vid?

Is it possible to build your own server. So as with XMPP?
