(media player status area applet) is very awsome, but it would be amazing to be able to pause/play and skip back and forth thru ur songs from this media player status area applet. im just saying that would be sick. so please consider.

Yes - you've already told us that. http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=70742

If you want it, code it: http://wiki.maemo.org/Category:Development

its a good idea, too bad i dont know how to bring it about. if only i can get this idea to the person that developed the media player status area applet. if im browsing the web or watever, instead of minimizing the window, swiping thru three desktops to skip, pause,or rewind a song, it would be nice to be able to do so from the status area where the media player applet is located because its right there.

...in order to even escape out to the desktop, you'd need to pass the dashboard and can simply select the window and control the music.

Having said that, you could use the quick-launch plugin to add entries for "Pause, Play, Next, Previous" and set each command to control the media player through dbus.

You have now piqued my interest and I am going to try this now.

naw, there's a media player applet already in the status area, the only thing missing is the pause/play, skip and rewind features, just like the media player widget on your home screen or desktop.

Done.

Works fine and took all of 5 minutes to do, the other 5 was finding and editing the icons...if only quick-launch allowed for multiple entries, I could leave this directly under the media player entry and create a second set of shortcuts to the left of it.

EDIT: Reversing tracks doesn't work and when selecting 'resume' it will begin playing the track from the beginning. I suspect these are bugs within dbus IPC and media player. OMP or SomePlayer probably work fine.
