Hi i would like to turn on the display light from command line how do i do it from xterminal or putty from PC?

what do you mean by "the display light". Increase the screen brightness or something else?

For screen brightness (level 1 to 5):

gconftool -s /system/osso/dsm/display/display_brightness 1 -t int
....
gconftool -s /system/osso/dsm/display/display_brightness 5 -t int

Look in mAG's phone-control script. It may have that in there.

Code:
 apt-get install phone-control
and then just type "phone-control" for a list of available commands and uses. IIRC there is a backlight option.
