Hi all,

I am currently using Nokia messaging with Gmail to push email, and i found a problem with sending attachment today.

I tried to send a picture (around 2mb) as attachment with my gmail account. and it just doesnt get through to the other side. it keeps saying 'sending fail' and just stays in my outbox.

is anyone having the same problem? is there a way to solve this?

cheers to reading

thanks for your reply, do you use 3G or 2G connection when you send them? also did you choose any specific settings on Gmail's side?
cheers

Got this error today also. Changing Google SMTP settings worked out, however. Currently using:
- normal (TLS) security
- port 587

This on 3G and on WiFi@home

Have you tried MobWebMail - Check out the authors (Felipe Crochik) announcement here on Maemo.org (thread = 71358)?

Summary:
For people that know my other package macuco, the main differences are:
MobWebMail only allows to browse gmail
* MobWebMail allows you to access multiple gmail accounts by keeping separate sessions with distinct set of cookies. You can switch between them with two clicks.
* MobWebMail allows to download attachments
* MobWebMail shows an indicator any time the browser is requesting more data from the server (not just while loading the first page like macuco).
* MobWebMail does not use the standard Maemo UI (menus, task bar, close button, ...)

I use 2G/3G depending on location (phone in dual mode) but I'd usually only send an email with a large attachment on 3G as it would take too long otherwise. No special google acct settings, though I have https forced on for browser access.

this is weird because whenever i try to send files with Gmail, it keeps saying 'failed', but then after like 30mins, i suddenly received the email with files ( i was sending files with Gmail to my Hotmail).

anyone knows what might have happened there?

Just guessing but are you sending from areas with patchy coverage? Try from wifi to see if it behaves differently.
