Hey all , just wanted to show a little mod i made to the car mount... trimmed the bottom corners of the bracket w/ my dremel so the buttons , especially the menu button is easier to press.

p.s. , i alsofilled in the hollow part of the clip on top with epoxy putty and ground down the fron of the clip so it didnt push against the screen when you slide it up in the mount... just didnt like how that pushed on it.

Nice work. How does the base mount work? Does it just have suction cups to connect to your windshield?

There is no suction mousnt with the kit to connect at all.

This is bad - I took the kit to the car, and there is no way to mount on the car at all. IThe included mount is only to mount the N810.

Seems lkike we have to buy the Vent mount which has holes to line up rtight with the Nokia Mount. So an extra mount is needed to be bought seperately.

I agree, it looks like if you wanted to use the car mount as is, it contains 4 long screws . Anyone have suggestions on car mounts to buy? I've seen a few on ebay which look like they may work. I don't think I need to have the keyboard out when the unit is used as a GPS.

well , sometimes you need need the keyboard out to hit the drop down menu button. i just screwed mine directly to my dash. i looked at the possibility of plastic welding the holder to a flex neck mount but it wasnt solid enough for me , bounced too much. i like the stability of the included mount.

Do they have a mount specifically for the N810 yet? I see one for the N800.

I'm actually really looking forward to the mount being in the box, as I have a custom-built panel on my dash that previously mounted my N95 and iPod. The iPod died, so there's been an empty spot, and the N810/N800 will make a killer replacement.

Due to my motorcycle and gadget addictions - I've got chunks of ram-mount.com mounts around. I have one of the suction cup bases - just so happens that 2 of the Nokia screw holes in the stock mount that come with the N810 line up with the holes in the suction cup mount.

In the photo below - remove the ball portion. The screw holes line up there. I used the ball in another project and had just the suction cup left so it works perfectly for me. The part is probably $15 or so plus shipping.
