Gaah what the hell is going on? This thread is getting depressive fast!

if 'lankku' isn't even super top of the range dual core, then why the frack can't we (the people) have 'dali'?!?!

Well if that is the case, at least it gives me clear purpose to pursue the dev device by all means necessary and ignore the keyboardless one.

I don't agree. Symbian devices were the flagship line. Maemo line was just an experiment. If you consider the fact that they had to fight the external competition, there was not much space for symbian. In addition I believe the profiling and development of maemo products was hampered by the internal competition with older brother Symbian.

They simple did not want to bet on Maemo. Once the symbian was proven to be inferior, they have to bet on WF7, since maemo has never reached the necessary maturity to compete with android horde and apple fancyware.

Summa summarum: the forthcoming release(s) is/are oriented to hobysts(remember 770?), it does not have the power of true game changer (disrupting innovation) no matter what are the specifications of device.

How come do we talk about this without considering the rumor that Microsoft is talking with Nokia about acquisition of the mobile division?

I fail to see how could Nokia wanted that sum of money on a weaker phone then a N900...
Actually, My friend just bought a HTC Desire Z for 200$ on eBay!
That makes the E7 a phone for the really Nokia die-hards. I also not sure how many of those left.
I have the e7. The reason is because of the body and the keyboard to me its one of the best looking phones if not the best thats why i fell in love with the n950 its better looking then the e7.

Call me cynical but its the current version of Nokia and its Maemo thread, do they care?

@Koajwujwer123

I have a few questions. Feel free to answer or just put "no comment" if it's not a 'no' but you can't say yes. =p

1. Have you tried the dev version of the phone?

2. You said no one will want the dev version once we see the consumer version. But from what we heard so far from you and others, the specs between dev and consumer version is nearly identical. (4" WVGA LCD, single core cpu etc) In fact, it seems consumer version is worse as it doesn't have 12MP camera module and hw keyboard. So what exactly is better about the consumer version??

3. Have you tried playing any videos on your phone? I'm curious what codec it ships with by default. Can it play divx/xvid avi and h264 MKV high profile videos up to 720p? (fyi - Samsung Galaxy S1 with Cortex A8 @ 1GHZ can play even 720p high profile H264 mkvs)

4. Does it have CJK input support? Especially Korean. (one of the biggest gripes with Nokia phones)

5. Is the UI as customizable as the N900. or even Android? Do you think it's better than everything out there?

6. Is the web browser better than MicroB? (the best feature is the virtual mouse pointer imo. But i can only assume capacitive LCD will ruin it)

Thanks!!

I can't argue with that as i don't think my opinion is any more right than yours, but i would honestly see phone described here(sexy looking, super thin, 1.2ghz dual core, 4" screen, HDMI out etc) and released in 2 months with smoothest UI out there and UI that i think would capture part of the masses to be game changer in that it would be the first device since N95 to start turning that huge ship that's Nokia. The phone needs to be better in every aspect, including the SOC.
"Nokia can actually make amazing looking, best in class phone"

That would not alone be enough, but since the hey days of Symbian Nokia would look to have base to build for once. Rather than living this endless transition time that's been on for years.

they don't want to decide who should get one and who not.
If they respect us, Nokia should produce and sell all options without restricting it to some narrow circle of users.
