That's the thing with races, results are unpredictable/non consistent, and sure mce has one, and no doubt the bug is in mce (I got it on plain diablo once) and thank's to it being so much "added value" nokia closed source we can't do a dammed thing to fix it, short of rewriting the whole thing.
Well, try reverting gconf/libgconf packages, booting will look slower (it really isn't), but you may get lucky.
Here are the diablo debs (you just need gconf2 and libgconf2-6): http://repository.maemo.org/pool/diablo/free/g/gconf2/

heh, i reboot rarely enough that it is not a major issue. Especially know now that i can wiggle alarmd and/or mce to get things back in "working" condition

Powerlaunch has a partial open implementation of MCE. Someone should fork and finish it as a standalone replacement.

I've added a drain rate overlay to the battery applet which can be seen here.

To install you will need to run asui uu; asui dt; asui it; asui da to upgrade the convenience script, install test binary and the statusbar test applet. Then restart statusbar applet.

What do you think of the icons? Have a better idea for them?

Since green is used for the charging icon I combined ASUI's green and gray into a single gray overlay and added an additional transition at 2.0 since maacruz suggested 4 colors. What do you think of these transition points, should the transition to orange be higher than 2.0?

Weird. I powered down the n800 at least a hour ago. Now it suddenly played the nokia power up tune...

They are nice but look too thin to my aging eyes. Filling a pixel or two inside the arrow would probably help visual perception.

Isn't the red transition point too far?
About the update rate, it doesn't seem to update; I mean, it seems to be showing the average drain rate for the last hour, instead the drain rate for the last minute.

a) An alarm went off
b) Your device is haunted

Haunted is always a option.

Okay.

Its the same one ASUI uses and I've seen it a lot. The transition to orange at 2.0 is a bit low because I rarely see yellow. Although the orange and yellow are hard to distinguish from each other, I'll either change the 2.0 to halfway between 0.8 and 14.0 or remove orange.

ASUI only tracks last hour and last X hours and it passes the last hour rate to the applet. Last minute tracking is not possible unless you are bleeding 0.1% or more per minute. The applet rate only updates when battery capacity changes.

I can probably add a 60 second timer in the applet that resets when it receives a drain update otherwise it will request a 'decaying' update from ASUI. That way the applet's rate will decrease with time when no BME updates are being sent, just like ASUI does when the battery widget is visible.

Alarms can be set that boot the device and never show a dialog, usually to run a program. Would the screen blank after it booted?

BTW, I have finished window unmap sliding and code to support user-defined colors is written and being tested now.
