I connected my N900 to a projector to show a presentation. The picture was very washed out and weak, I struggled to see the picture at all against the projection board in daylight. The picture seems okay on a CRT TV, and the projector was fine with other sources but seemed to lack any brightness to it.

Is there a setting I could adjust? (I did try altering the screen brightness but that has no effect on the video output).

Let's see if simple-brightness-applet would help. I haven't used it though.

BTW, what projector are you using?

No ****, sherlock. Projectors work best in closed, dark rooms. Failing that, try to max out the projector's brightness setting.

No need for being patronising is there? I have already said other sources work fine, I didn't say in bright daylight, I would expect a projector to be visible to an extent in daylight but the N900 wasn't. Your comment is just out of order.

I did try adjusting the projector.

Thanks 9000 I will try that applet. I am using a Samsung projector in a classroom environment, the brightness is fine with a DVD player connected to composite, it is fine with a laptop connected to VGA, it is washed out on the 900.

Edit - Simple brightness app doesn't affect the composite output brightness.

That's odd. I've used the N900 with a Toshiba projector, numerous composite-VGA and composite-SVideo adaptors and it's always displayed right for me.

Are you sure you dont have any color calibration adjustments for the composite source?
