N800/1.2007.44-4 internal flash boot

There is NO VideoCenter on this 2008beta release. There is still a way to watch CBS News and Discovery Channels (see thread for N800/2007Os and 770/2007He: http://www.internettablettalk.com/fo...&highlight=cbs).

1) Got to have mplayer; I think it is built-in with 2008beta. If not, just install ukmp, http://maemo.org/downloads/2008OS.

2) Find your podcast URL, in this case, http://feeds.cbsnews.com/podcast_eveningnews_video_1.

3)Go to menu/Internet/RSS feed reader/Feed/Add..., paste URL from 2) above and close.

4) On Left column, now hi light your Rss feed: Video:CBS... and on the right column, click the icon with video/mp4, viola, you are watching CBS news with Katie Couric..... You will go to a webpage if you click the title of the article. This works for ALL the internet streaming videos you have found, discovery channel, Infection, Animal Planets, ..............

NO. I am NOT going to roll back 2008Beta is GREAT!

See this step-by-step to install 2008beta, http://www.internettablettalk.com/fo...293#post103293

A pic of watching CBS streaming evening news........

Look at the camera date and the CBS date,........I am watching the future

Videocenter was never needed to watch these feeds and it was never even implied. It was just a way to use RSS to tell you when the feeds were updated and to help you easily grab them.

At my knowlege of media handling, I do not think I understand the concept.

There is a difference between media streaming and physically download a copy. That I know. I do not know what is the magic behind videocenter/RSS feeds, they are able to 'transfer' the handling of the media to a media player in a grace manner. This results in a very 'watchable' experience, i.e., just like watching a media file being played by a DVD player. While watching the same CBSnews via the iT browser is not 'watchable', stuttering/pixelate etc. Well, if that is the case, can we just put the URL into a media player and have it stream would that work? NO. Not quite sure why. I tried to put the URL to mplayer or media player, they will give ALL kinds of excuse, 'format not support', resolution not supported.....these sometimes are wrong error message, that you download a copy, the media player may happily play them. Or they may play but stuttering/pixellate. All in all, I know you and Texrat have been cooking Jablet for media handling, I am just speaking from a user's point of view. Maybe if I put in more effort, I will understand what I am saying

For the time being, I am enjoying those streaming via RSS feeds, and use it just like the way I am using the videocenter. BTW, I am sure you aware, there is a BIG difference in handling/streaming video vs audio from the iT, likely because of the limited CPU/memory resource. I have not been able to get any satisfaction in streaming video even in my house, less mention streaming over the inet. Audio, piece of cake. Video, I am still working on.....

I revisit the jablet.net/videocenter/. I cannot get it to work. On my 770/2007He/MMC boot/videocenter, when I clicked the icon, it gives me a screen of statement, no videocenter. I guess I cannot try this on N800/2008beta, it does not have videocenter. I wonder whether you can make one more icon, on your database and point the video streaming to a mediaplayer, instead of videocenter for the N800/2008beta? Just a thought, not quite sure whether the real 2008Os will come with videocenter or not. Thumbs up to Jablet, nice work, wish I know how to do it

The point of the Video Center database that I was working on was that it would let you add your favorite podcasts to Video Center with one click. It does this with vcfg files (which are the files listed on the site). They are the same format as the links on Nokia's official service catalog.

Because only Video Center understands those files, they'll do nothing on IT2008 until Video Center is ported.

The lack of Video Center on IT2008 is more or less the reason why I stopped working on it - for now.

I think the reason why the links didn't work for you on your 770 is maybe Video Center doesn't install the proper MIME type files. I don't have a 770, so I don't know... (but if someone wanted to send me one, I'd find a way to make it work).

Where can I print out/list RSS feed reader subscriptions URLs? where do they hide in the file system? Oh, well, I am doing it manually for now.....

I found out RSS subs is a lot easier to add then videocenter. Some of the URLs does need to be in videocenter, but most of them can be added to RSS and it worked just fine.

CBS worked fine upon streaming,
NBC worked fine upon a couple of trials, once it catches on, it worked well.
ABC is jittering for at least a couple of minute it then runs fine.
Audio is super is all 3 channels

Again, file format not supported is a catchall error message, most of the time, you hit the play button a couple of time, it will stream.
More channels:

CBS:5, not 4, channels, http://www.internettablettalk.com/fo...t=10352&page=2

Discovery channel and infectios disease channel, same thread as above, #12.

NBC 3 channels,

ABC, 1 channel

I am checking some other major channels too, CNN, Foxnews, CNET, BBC, NPR etc.............

I am putting up some videocenter URLs next week, as I am doing it manually is very time consuming.

Enjoy,

BBC videos works, but is very low resolution, like watching a 320X200 on a desktop PC. Bandwidth?
Oh, it does not work on RSS, it is working on videocenter.

Some of these pgms are 4-5mins, but some of them are over an hour, like the middle east channel. It would be superb to dl at least a couple of those hourlong pgms prior to a long trip on the plane, no internet, no battery, sucks.
