I installed the Community SSU and started searching threads to decide what additional package I ought to install to get screen rotation. Most of what I found is in old postings so I am getting confused about which things require that the SSU is installed and which ones include a kernel reflash which might mess things up for me. I have found reference to these:

  1. advanced backlight
  2. advanced-systemui
  3. sliderotate

and I wonder if anyone would like to make a recommendation, or warn me away from one of them.

Install advanced backlight. Then, you will get an icon in your upper right that, when pressed, will give you orientation options. Piece of cake!

That was easy; small, quick install, does just what I needed. Thanks for the tip!
