The N900 had that exact same setup until Catorise and ApMeFo were released. Don't get ahead of yourself.

Nokia is amazing!

Everybody want a N900's like phone, but:
- More slim
- Powerfull (with 2 CPU's)
- With a physical keyboard
- With N900's functions!

So, the N9 is very design but... Have only the design in more!

Where is the keyboard?
Where is the F.M. transmitter?
Where is the IM integration on contacts?
Where is the full flash support?
Where is the second CPU, like all new phones?

For me, Nokia is norrow minded !
Maybe most people will like the N9 but all Linux fans and N900's fan will prefer Android...

Thanks to Nokia for this amazing very very bad trip !

Krpeuh!

You cant read can you ?

I was able to make app shortcuts and sort them on 4 desktops - WHICH CAME AT N900 RELEASE.

..... and the UX layer of the N9 is also closed and proprietary......

Anyone else see that Jaffa made it into this official N9 UI demo video from Nokia Marketing Manager Jussi Mäkinen? Look carefully at around 0:57...

Nice

This was the final little detail that has tipped me over the edge in deciding not to get this device when it's released. Too much of a hassle to change over my SIM for one device when everything else I own (phones & modems) uses the standard size SIM.

Quite happy to continue using my N900 & N8.

then i will be on market to kill WP7 sales, i hope i am heard :/

edit : be careful wit gartner people, all of em look like they are on microsoft payroll. they spend the day on twitter licking microsoft platform ***.

Well, I am torn.

On the one hand, I see the new UI and it looks amazing in some respects. Some things are missing but other things are better than Maemo 5.

On the other, I feel that Nokia shortchanged this. Not including things like HDMI out and a HW keyboard reek of cost cutting and lack of options.

I really feel like the Harmattan team did the best they could (and that is something to be proud of) but I think Elop has intentionally tried to shortchange and cut Meego down just to promote WP7. I can't help but feel that if it wasn't for the Elopalypse, Symbian Anna/Belle and MeeGo could've turned it all around for Nokia.

That said, I'll probably get the device and I think the community will make it a dream device just like the N900. Hopefully I can get up to speed on coding and contribute an app or two.

Can someone please clarify some points for me?

A lot of talk has been made about the N9 as the last ever Maemo/meego device and Mr Elop said yesterday they are going to release at least 10 more Symbian devices.

Yet I thought Symbian was being dropped completely and Meego was to live on for the "Future Disruptions" department.

The R&D Funding chat used by Nokia (Here) says while funding for symbiam will stop, funding for Meego will only shrink slightly.

So has something changed or is it possible we might actually see more Meego devices?

dont listen to em its just PR, to make WP7 transition look good. even if its a huge mistake.

by making nokia solely dependant on microsoft they will carry wp7 by brand name. WP/ sales are terrible and mango wont save it.
even if market ask for android or meego.

elop just trying to stop meego, bringing it support down and sales limited.
n9 turns into a success nokia will have to rethink strategy, but elop is making sure that doesnt happen.

wp7 sales are going to be bad, but they won't restrict 100k meego devices that are going to be produced.

Umm. We seriously need a FAQ section for the N9. =P

btw, does it have live thumbnails? (I couldn't really test on my test device as the video/angry birds pauses in background and had no internet access to load up a web page in the background)
