More available from here, http://www.internettablettalk.com/fo...ad.php?t=12663.

I think I am goin to wait, the N800 are xmas presents. if they are in short supply, i will look somewhere else. I will stay away from vendors like onsale.com or pcmall.com
I am fine with a N800 and 770, so far.

Here's an update. I'm the one who got my order discontinued at OnSale. I bought from buy.com, and they've reported that they've shipped my order.

FWIW, I think theory #1 from Phi sounds very believable. The SKU could be changing because of the new OS.

P.S. I wasn't trying to spread misinformation. That's why I pasted in the exact wording from OnSale.com. The truth behind their message is left as an exercise for the reader.

We already have a statement from Nokia that the N800 will receive updates through at least OS2009 (which is probably what the N900 will come bundled with), so I don't think there's much worry here.

Yeah, this is what I do. My Camry has a charger in the center console, so I just leave it plugged in there (powers off when the keys are out) and set it on the dash when I want to use it (I could use it from the center console, actually, I just like extreme accuracy ).

Only problem with this method is that the Lion batteries don't like the hot Florida summers very much (well, hot Florida all-the-time ) and capacity with the battery that's in there has already dropped by about 20%. Good news is that it works with Nokia BL-5C batteries, of which I have a ton of from my old 6682.

The sku theory by phi sounds very plausible. Also very good points by xxM5xx.

I completely agree with John. Saw an iPhone the other day. Pretty tiny, yet tablet based like the N800. I've lamented before about the inherent mediocrity of the qwerty keyboard. Why the persistence with it?...and now they devote hardware to it? Come on Nokia, Apple is going to jump ahead......again, and we N800 people will just shake our heads like a bunch of ol Apple Newton users fading into the past.

To think I have been hard selling the N800 to some software analysts, who have been on the fence dithering about what to buy.??? Isn't this tablet hardly a year old? My Treo650 rocks...still, and its from when?...2004?

I'm glad I bought two N800's...and I especially like the FM radio! ...and there is nothing cooler than a video call from wife when I am in the horse stable.

Yes, yes pardon me. Treo's have a tiny keyboard. Point I was trying to make was about general shelf life. I wish they would quit chasing the hardware tweaks and just progress the code. In other words, 'mature the software'.

I don't really care if they discontinue the N800, or the whole concept for that matter. My N800 is working fine in the rare case I have some use for it. And when it stops working fine, I won't replace it with another Nokia IT. Not a N800, N810 or even N900. (aside: I also don't want the keyboard of the 810 with the hidden nav key; design flaw in my book)
As a gadget freak I had some fun with it. But now I'm bored and done with the platform. And OS2008 doesn't really fill that gap for me. So another nice paperweight is in the making

I need something is this form factor (or a bit bigger) with PC functionality and a minimum of 1024 pixels wide resolution (800 is ancient).
So I guess it won't be a Nokia IT anytime soon.
I know the IT can be a lot of fun for some; just not for me anymore.

800 pixel wide is ancient on this tipology of device ?????
How come ?!
What else is out there with more pixels ?
A laptop perhaps ?

I don't want to sound aggressive, but I am really suprised to read such a statement. Moreover, what do you need 1024 pixels for on such a small device ?

I don't understand why is not useful for you either. Will a Win platform do better ? and what ?
