I have decided not to argue the point with those who believe that a falling share price is undeniable evidence of some conspiracy theory. As my Grandfather used to say: "you can't educate pork"

There are no winners here; If the Trojan-ists are proved right we all lose the benefit to the market of the independence of a truly great device manufacturer.

But even if they are wrong, the FUD spread by threads like this impacts on Nokia profitability and, therefore, investment on the Maemo/Meego devices we are most interested in through this site.

Although the question mark that should have punctuated the title of this thread is missing, I think the question posed has been answered as best it can be for now and the thread should now be closed pending some real evidence.

Because none has been presented here so far.

How can there be any evidence that he is a "trojan horse", certainly not a fall in share price as this will happen even at a sniff of any company going in another direction especially one with such a high profile as Nokia.

This thread is all about hatred of Microsoft nothing else and certainly Nokia had huge problems before the appointment of Elop as a CEO.

If you look at the actions he took to start the upward turn of a downward spiralling company, by getting out some of the current staff was the right thing to do because let's face it it was them that made the company go the downturn for what ever bad reasons or decisions that was bringing Nokia down.

I would hazard a guess and say he got rid of the software team as i think that was where the major problems were occuring.

Radical decisions had to be made and for sure he got radical and to the point, many people did not like the fact people lost there job's but it was the only way if a company is to be saved.

He needs to be given the chance and i am sure this is the case, just not on this community as it is full of people without business strategy and management knowledge.

Those of us who have owned and run companies are well aware but on here your dealing with Nokian die hards that only see an end result or product without the knowledge of how it actually got there in the first place.

Elop is clear on his strategy and is true to form of a good stategist dealing with a company that had become a bad risk and the negligable strategic decisions Nokia had been making, because all his actions so far are what you would expect from a CEO that means business and aims to completely turn things around.

Maybe now we can close this rediculous thread ?.

IMO the pro-elop camp never showed any business strategy or management knowledge. With my very limited knowledge of what is going on at nokia I would say "wp7 only" is the wrong decision. Very risky (wp7 not exactly a success), destroying brand value (loyality to windows not nokia), damaging the Qt ecosystem (which they should push hard) and too much dependence on MS.

But I don't know what else is going on at nokia, maybe they'll have s40 with swipe UI ready in a few months, or some really disruptive meego tech ahead, or will offer plenty of services (not only maps) on all wp7 phones or w8 tablets.

Those are big IFs, so until proven wrong the wp7 strategy is a mistake.

this is WORSE results than expected.

wp7 not only have to be a success to make huge profits.

that means more than galaxy s II numbers.

16,7m smartphones sold... elop killed nokia and gave the marketshare to apple and samsung.

nokia is THIRD smartphone manufacturer.
