I've commented on the meegoexperts post; this is for enabling the CPU to talk fp. As you state, this is an underway migration to a new architecture, and is underway in a number of distros (armhf in Debian). What is not clear is that there is still no word on readily accessible drivers for the 8 core GPU.
TEGRA HAS NO SUPPORT FOR ACCELERATED GPU USAGE IN LINUX. nVidia has made no promises, and Nouveau has flat out rejected the call.
