I made the image, but it is 8 GB. Any ideas where I can upload a file that size?

When you done installation of SHR please write a easy guide also.

I intend to; however, I only have 2 microSD cards at the moment. When I get a third one I will attempt to install SHR.

Wow! That's a big one....

For comparison, I downloaded the new OSX Lion installer the other day and it was 3.74GB..... luckily, I did it while on my network at work.... didn't take very long...would have taken a long time at home...

Anyway to slice up the file in segments? Just a thought.....

Good idea. I'll compress it into 1 GB segments and upload them to mediafire.

Thanks!

in any case its always wise to slice huge files like that up to less than 4gb so they are universal for people to store on file systems.

personally id slice it into 8 1GB segments and make a torrent and upload it to demonoid or some other public tracker. lemme know if you need help with this

I actually think its a very good idea to compress the image as mentioned previously by other people. There are potentially lots of empty spaces inside an uncompressed image file that just seemed pointless to download in raw uncompressed form.

For one to torrent a large file (uncompressed form) places a heavy burden on their connection when it could be easily solved by compressing it originally.

Even qole has his various chroot images in compressed LZMA form to save both bandwidth and disk space. Heck, to even create a blank chroot image that is 4GB in size and to share that for instance is a real waste when using bzip2 for instance creates a filesize of somewhere around 100KB at most.

I have created the file and begun compressing it. Unfortunately I only have a netbook at my current location so it is rather slow. I estimate I will be able to begin uploading it in about 15 hours.
