as much as i love my n900 its getting to be a sad day as i have realized it wont work on the 850mhz 3g band...
i have been looking at switching to telstra (from optus) but the problem is the n900 wont do 3g with telstra so what is a good replacment phone for the 850mhz band?
if all else fails i will probably have to get an iphone!!
the benefits of the iphone over the n900 is the support and the fact if theres an app available its usually available for the iphone
also noticed the loading times of the iphone apps are quicker and is more responsive but can only do 1 thing at once
someone has said the new Motorola is good dont know what one though
or the galaxy2 ?
any ideas???
i do like the qwerty keyboard though
an n901(lol) would be good (n900 with all the problems it has fixed)

Yes, after a year with my N900, I would really miss the slider keyboard. My N900 is still working perfectly, but I am also looking to the future, taking into account that Nokia and Maemo/Meego most probably is dead.

There are two phones that catched my attention:

First, the new Motorola Milestone 3. This might be my favourite, I still wait for it to become available here. From the specs, this has some very nice hardware features.
Already out and quite affordable the HTC Desire Z. Hardware specs are comparable to the N900.

As a committed Linux guru, I would of course root any Android device immediately.

it took me long enough to find the n900 then ages to work out the maemo comunity and the n900 and now ill have to start all over again
as the n900 was my first smart phone it was the first time id had the ability to change anything other than a ring tone or msg tone and maybe the theme colour lol
i do agree maemo /megoo is going to die, the only thing disappointing about the n900 is the support for it

ill have to look into those phones

Without doubt the SG2 is the best dual core Android phone according to every review you read, even if the build seems a bit flimsy compared to the HTC Sensation. There is runoured to be an SG2 due any day with NFC so it may be worth waiting for that one.

It is sad however that happy N900 owners have to move away to another make/OS and therefore leave this fantastic community behind.
