Is there a way to have Satellite Images?? I think they are better than normal maps. And here in Africa, for non developed countries as mine, the normal maps are not very significant!!

I don't know. I thinj that with OVI suite yo can download only normal maps.

I know that it is for symbian but the whole thing is about downloading the maps on pc so you don't have to pay for the transfer.the maps work ok for maemo.

I took a Nokia E66 and downloades the maps via OVI Suite. Then I took the maps from the cities folder and copied them to N900. That ia all.

unzip them
copy the resulting directories into /home/user/MyDocs/cities/diskcache/

Is there a special reason not to use OVI suite for this purpose?
I just use OVI suite and all maps updated without issues on N900. I even have the modified version of maps with voice. No problems so far.

But I think that the maps in there aren't the latest ones so I just took my old E66 downloaded all the maps to it via OVI Suite and then transfered the files to my PC and forim it to my N900. It all works well.
