mobile hotspot can be sometimes a little finicky. when you start the app, are you connected to 2G/3G network already? if so, disconnect your 2G/3G connection before initializing mobile hotspot and let the app start the connection for you (this assumes your hotspot setup is correct i.e. connection, network name etc).

AFAIRecall PSP cannot use Ad-Hoc connections (and N900 can't do infrastructure mode basestation, see http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=48075)

I also get some problems when trying to initialize mobile hotspot.

If I am connected to 3g when te app starts it says that the connection failed, and then disconnects and reconnects again, but then the mobile network created is not visible!

I once did exit the program without stopping the service and now the own created wifi conneciton is always there, which does not make a lot of sense if you ask me.

And overall, it is a great up when it works, but it seems pretty random. I mean, there is not an algorithm to make it work, it seems in my experience to be a trial/error process.
