I have a problem with apt-get related top this package.
I don't have CSSU installed and I installed the package from the first post with dpkg.
Now I cannot upgrade any application as I get the error:
Code:
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
  mp-fremantle-generic-pr: Depends: hildon-dekstop (= 1:2.2.140-1+0m5) but 1:2.2.142-13 is installed
Does someone know how to fix this issue?
Many thanks.

An apt-get upgrade will reinstall the default hdesktop (possibly because it prefers versions in the repo), so you may want to pin it:
Code:
echo "Package: hildon-desktop
Pin: release a=unstable
Pin-Priority: 1001" >> /etc/apt/preferences

Thanks, I've done this but nothing changed: unable to upgrade any application (both via apt-get upgrade or fapman).

@sakya

this can be fixed by multiple ways
but as long as i don't have your N900
the best way i can tell you is :

1-) install that version which dpkg is requesting
2-) download the portrait version from the first post
3-) dpkg -L hildon-desktop # then remove the things shown
4-) dpkg -x hildon-desktop-portrait / # as root

PS:
if you wanna remove it don't just install new hildon-desktop version
you need to install the version from first post with dpkg -i
then remove it

LAST NOTE: haven't tried this on my N900
but there is no reason that it will not work
although this is at your own risk

Purging hildon-desktop out of your device is not a good idea. If I recall correctly it'll lead to a reboot loop in less than 5 seconds

I skipped that passage: I just installed with dpkg the stock hildon desktop and then extracted the hildon desktop portrait mode with dpkg -x
It worked: I still have the portrait mode and apt-get works fine for upgrading packages.

I fixed he problem with these steps:

1.Download the stock hildon-desktop: http://repository.maemo.org/pool/mae...+0m5_armel.deb
2.Install the stock hildon desktop with
Code:
dpkg -i hildon-desktop_2.2.140-1\+0m5_armel.deb
3.Overwrite the stock hildon desktop file with the one from the portrait hildon desktop:
Code:
dpkg -x hd_18_07_2011.deb /
I rebooted the phone and all seems to work fine.
