OpenWrt LOL. At least it does what Unix was made for, a switch box basically. They made those in the 60s you know.

Sure, back in those days the Linux kernel was a fraction of the size it is today. Linux has become bloatware, and that's a fact. Nucleus can be scaled down to 13 kb, and still do its job.

And in the mean time these devices are dumped. Anyone knows how many devices are being sold? What impact does that have on the sales of the current market leaders, I wonder.

That I can agree with. Look, Android has proved more than anything that Linux is capable for some weird stuff. That is not the question here. Android is not exactly a vanilla Linux, but still, on less than 1 GHz and 512+ MB RAM it doesn't exactly rock. Even on the SGSII there are issues as overheating etc.
The N9 though may be just perfect. A perfect blend of hardware and software. Soon we will find out.
WebOS couldn't save Palm/HP. It tried two times, but it just didn't work.

It it is a sad time for the customer market these days that has only one player that try to make its own way instead of the boring mainstream competitors. We basically have one evil choice, (the rotten apples) one plastic and fake linux (Android) and that's it.
