I would someday like to get all of those great Rogue ports working, especially ADOM, but it seems everyone has moved on to newer devices except for me.

At least TinyFugue and SCUMM still keep me super happy.

Dude, ADOM is working only through QEMU, have you finally tried the N800 version of qemu?

EDIT: not to mention you should try to install 'gcc' package and just try to 'make' in directories with Makefile. You would be surprised how easy it is to port console apps. Most text only c/cpp sources work out of the box. Like cataclysm for example.

I still have yet figured out how to G-Part my memory card.

Oh, and there's no way I could figure out how to compile either.

You just saw what a train wreck I was in following your simple steps here for Zelda.

You need to have much lower expectations of me.

Install this: http://repository.maemo.org/extras/p...emo3_armel.deb Play a little with the filesystem, see what you extract(enter to open deb or tar.gz), read (F3) READMEs, CTRL-I for switching between windows, assign key ESC on 'SYM+' left or right arrow(you will use it often instead of stylus). ESC+1-0 are Fn keys for quick copy, move etc. Command line is at hand, so you can 'echo \#\!|/bin\/ash > mynewfile' and then >> the command or just edit (F4) yournewfile and have handy easy editor with simple interface. You will really soon know how to G-Part, or just run make in directory from an extracted source package. If you have some of -dev packages installed, most will compile without problems. Just checked, libncorses5-dev is available for Diablo.

It's says not installable, missing "file", that's it.

I'll look into this later tonight.

Thanks.

I'm baaack!

"file" is a Unix utility to find out what file you're dealing with. It's an amazing tool, you can identify partition tables and also most types of files. There must be a reason that it's a depency.
Just use "apt-get install file" to get it.

Problems with C++ libraries? That's a nasty thing. It needs to be compatible with the system, meaning it could be impossible to use Fremantle's libs. Or maybe we should try..? (I did manage to run a rootstrap of Diablo on N900, so why not?)
I'll put it into the deb, on the same link.

I'm starting to see this as a too time-consuming task. And I've got some work to do. It'll have to wait until Friday, sadly.

I can wait and test whatever junk you throw my way, dude.

Well, what I'm thinking about includes compiling GCC. We're talking around 200Mb of code here. (+/- documentation)
And we'd also have to override the default libraries.
It could get ugly, but functional.

^ Would all of that crud be able to be stored on my FAT32, external memory card or does it have to be dumped directly on the flash memory?

If not, I'm seeing some serious issues on this.

Uhm... For compilation, you'll need a Unix filesystem with permissions and etc. Ext2 will do. But how does storage work on the N800? How much do you have to work with?
