I would if it would lead to continued development with the possibility of releasing a new community developed handset. Kinda like Cordia Tab..but maemo..

As it stands, I would like to donate to CSSU team JUST for the work that they have done. But somehow they do not want donations...
Another area I would like developed is the Meego Handset UX. I know it isn't Maemo, but having a nice UI for Meego CE in N900 would greatly increase the adoption rate, IMO.

Oh My God MAN!!! Don't you understand NDA, ethics or even basic morality??? Are you now asking this community to join you in bribing stskeeps to do something illegal?

I've voted yes.

To be honest, the best long term route is to get Meego or Kubuntu on the N900 with a suitable UI, and keep all the necessary bits open and current. This will enable them to be updated and supported by the community.

Getting package compatibility with Harmattan, or Fremantle, is also important, as is getting an installer which will allow you to dual-boot maemo and Meego, but keeps microSD compatibility for maemo.

Maemo expects the first partition on the microsd to be FAT, but the current meego installer reformats the first partition, and maemo cannot see the card.

I appreciate there are hacks around this, which I could do, but for the majority of users this will be the point at which they decide not to proceed with Meego CE.

The other thing which should be promoted is the CSSU, and the drive to develop open community supported replacements for the closed source components such as the Media Player.

I will donate $2000 if a team can be found to work on Maemo only if it is possible to find a way around the problem of the code release.

That is how serious it gets with me.

And i will join that team as a paid member to deal with all the hardware problems of the N900.

i would donate £20-30 because i really do believe that the devs need our continued support. As for how the money should be spent why not use the humble indie bundle method of fund allocation. Just let the donator decide.

I know the end user portion (the majority) of the community likes to hear this kind of ideas but just by collecting money will not magically start making thing happen. The community would need more people doing something else than just talking (hackers, developers, etc.). I just don't see those kind of people enough around here anymore and do not believe that the situation will get any better. Feel free to prove me wrong (by doing instead of talking and bikeshedding)

If by "talking" and coming up with ideas and people willing to financially support an ongoing project then that is a very good thing.

There are plenty of skilled programmers around looking for work, but without funds how could the Maemo community be a position to invite bids?

Do not waste your time with him HE should not even post on this Maemo forum as he is TOTALLY Meego and has only came in here to throw his eeerie spoke and even voting no for Maemo progression.

Seriously timoph you do NOT belong on this MAEMO forum, please go back to Meego.com where you belong and allow Maemo progression to have a chance on this Maemo forum, people like you really make me sick.
