It need more tweaks. In one scene, I found the blue ship out of the screen. and the mouse cursor is actually annoying - no use at all. If there is a way to extend this game by using more tools and with stylus support, I will award $10 for the person.

I have created a patch to fix the spawn locations. I tried it with the slingshot_0.8.1p-r2 version from the website.
Get the attached patch and apply it in the terminal from within the game folder (where slingshot.py resides, e.g. /opt/slingshot/) with following command:
patch player.py < spawnfix.txt
Anyone know how to start it in fullscreen?

Although I'm perfectly capable of installing and running this game, I also ask You for placing it in repositories. I've found this gem by accident, while searching for "framebuffer kernel"... It's pity that such great piece of work is lying somewhere, scattered around forum, instead of being in repos

Fullscreen can be also initiated by setting F6 somewhere in your keyboard layout - no need for all things from White Bear page.
Also, if You prefer to not set F6, and You're using Easy Debian, you already have every prerequisite, no need to install anything.
