Anyway , being an ubuntu user this was the next logical step.. I owned symbian s60 phones since the 7650 but after N958gb it realy looked like it reached it's limits. The N900 on the other hand seams kind off limitless... Anyway, i'm off to mess around with it, just wanted you people to know the people are still buying these incredible devices.
What were you thinking? Its a dud

just wanted to leave my welcome also. the n900 is an incredible device as you will surely find out.

install cssu. you wont regret it and will welcome the improvements and additions.

maybe even power kernel and a little overclock to make things nicer? ah, we gotta love the n900. :-)

enjoy. have mine for 2 years now and i cant find anything that comes close to it still. even got a nexus s to try out (i am a dev) and want to sell it (anyone interested?)

long live the n900.

If you're new to the N900, can I take a moment to recommend a handful of apps, addons, toys and usability hacks:
  • browser-switchboard - to set Opera as your default browser
  • cl-launcher - trigger a menu on opening camera lens, to which feel free to add flashlight, mbarcode, frontview
  • 3g2g-mode-selection-applet - switch radio mode from status menu
  • wifi-switcher - disable wifi when not needed from status menu
  • simple-brightness-applet - screen brightness on status menu
  • desktop-switcher - add buttons to switch between desktops, makes multiple desktops so much more usable
  • backupmenu - offline backups of rootfs & optfs to SD card

Oh, and +1 to kernel-power and moderate overclocking/undervolting. SmartReflex does wonders for battery life.

@skr1: Welcome

Keep the cable that came with the N900. I tried using the shorter version that came with C6-01 and data transfer seemed very slow.
